Scorched Sole Ultra

Race Reports

Thank you both very much for the Great Event! What a wonderful day. It must have been a lot of work and months of preparation. As always, I thanked each and every one of the volunteers. They were great.
I found the 25K distance just right. But that’s just me. I have deep respect for those that turned around and did it again. It was bloody hot yesterday. I bumped into Howard  this morning at the grocery store and he said that he felt the heat as well.
A bit of a drag for you guys about the clock dying. I didn't hear any grumbling from the runner's. That’s life. Barring that minor bump, the day was flawless.|
This might be premature, but the way I feel now, I'll do it again next year. A lot will depend on the timing with the Goat's Run to Naramata. In all likelihood, The Goat's Run will be on June 28 next year. I am already thinking of tweaks that I can do to improve my time, one of which is not to drink two large martinis the night before.
I put my name on a large shirt before the race, and then left without it. If I could still buy a large, that would be great. No worries if that’s not possible.
A heartfelt thanks to you both. A resounding success.

We had fun on Saturday and you guys did a great job and worked tirelessly, until sat. evening it looks like on the results. You all are stars!
Thanks :)...David and Alison Urness

Dan, despite the mishaps and the unpredictable (people like me going of course) just wanted to thank the many people who volunteer their time so that people like me can have a local event like this. It was very hot and the volunteers had to sit in the heat and I am sure that they all had a long day. Great to see the numbers go up each year and I think this event has the potential to become a landmark event in the trail calendar.
Thanks to all who gave of their time, much appreciated.

Hi guys ~
You are probably both exhausted, but…how did the rest of the day go????  I was sorry we couldn’t stay to see the runners come in, and the 50K group turn around for the 2nd half!  My boys had a lot of fun, and I was SO proud of them running the whole 5K.  I have attached a picture.  You guys are GREAT!!!!!  Next year we hope to be more involved, because hopefully Tim will be in town.
Hate to bother you with post-run details, but if you could let me know where I can pick up the banners to return to Miriam tomorrow, that would be great.  I will go wherever it is easiest to pick them up, and you can just leave them at a location where I can find them if you are not around.
THANK YOU both, for making a difference for the future of diabetes…your efforts are AMAZING!!!!!
‘Hope to talk with you both sometime soon, and to see some of the photos on the web-site!
Katharine.

***Someone inadvertently took one of our folding chairs from the finish area on Saturday.  The chair is a brand new canoe,
black with arms and both arms have drink holders.  We sure would like to get it back!!

Hi Dan -
I'm glad things worked out well with your race being part of the Series this year, I think it is a fabulous addition. I really enjoy the course and the atmosphere you guys generate for the event, it is such an honest, fun environment. I heard you did a lot of work preparing backgrounds on the athletes, so I was sorry to hear of the generator/PA problems and find that all your efforts at digging up the details on everyone were missed! That was a real shame, I know you put a lot of work into that.
Many thanks to you, Shirlee, Tammy, Trent and the many others who put in so much time and energy creating such a fun race. You really have a good thing up there!
cheers,
Bruce
